At Orto our goal is to create a beautiful, comfortable and delicious experience for each of our guests.


Our menu is built on the foundations of Italian food and culture—simple, fresh, flavorful cuisine served in a welcoming space.

In Italian, "orto" means a vegetable garden or home garden and is the source of our inspirations. We are passionate about sourcing the freshest ingredients harvested at their peak and preparing them in a way to make flavors sing in balance with each other. Through the love and execution brought to life on each plate combined with our thoughtful service, Orto is a space for all to gather, savor and enjoy.


At Orto we are a family of folks in love with food and hospitality.

We are a small team of creators where we work daily to encourage both our guests and each other to grow, experience, learn, and have fun.

Proprietor Elan Kotz

Elan is passionate about making each guest feel at home. His mission is for each guest to feel a hug as they walk through the door. Orto is his second restaurant venture in Baltimore City. 

Executive Chef Stefano Porcile

Stefano is an avid creator of flavor and sensory experiences through his well balanced menus. He has cooked and honed his skills in multiple restaurants in Baltimore City over the past several years. Chef Stefano is thrilled to lead a team of talented and passionate cooks in the kitchen executing his vision and delicious meals for guests nightly. 

General Manager Lindsay Crisler

Lindsay is a photographer and farmer. With work experience in restaurants and agriculture, she has seen food in all of its forms, each step of the way on it’s journey to a guests plate. She believes every meal should be a beautiful, nourishing moment.

Reservations are available 60 days in advance. We set aside our bar and tables in the salon for our walk-in guests.

Running late

If you are running late, please let us know by calling 443.759.7200. We honor reservations for a grace period of 15 minutes before offering the reservation to our waitlist.

Table of 6 or more

Due to our cozy footprint, we have limited availability for tables of 6 or more, and take phone requests as available. Parties of this size can be more easily accommodated on weeknights. We do not accommodate a party larger than 8 guests.
